Fair question.
But we could also ask: "Does God want anyone to be a Pastor in the way we see pastors today?"
There is a good case to be made that the separation of clergy and laity, the dominance of the clergy and the neglect of the gifts of the non-clergy, are totally unscriptural, yet they are mainstays of modern denominational churches.
I can recommend this website for an alternative, scriptural and Holy Spirit approach to these questions.
